Embracing Self-Love: A Journey, Not a Destination

Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought, “I’m not enough”? Maybe you’ve replayed past mistakes in your head or felt like you’re falling short in every area of life. If that resonates, you’re not alone. And here’s a truth you might need to hear today: Self-love is not about perfection; it’s about acceptance.

For women with ADHD, the struggle can feel even heavier. We’re told we’re “too much” or “not enough” in the same breath.

  • Too sensitive.
  • Too scatterbrained.
  • Too chaotic.
  • Not organized.
  • Not focused.
  • Not consistent.

The list goes on.

But here’s what I’ve learned: those labels are not the truth of who we are. And breaking free starts with embracing self-love.

Self-Love for ADHD Warriors

Living with ADHD can feel like navigating life on “hard mode.” Forgetting appointments, starting projects we don’t finish, or losing track of keys for the 500th time might lead to self-criticism or shame. But what if we reframed these moments?

  • You forgot an appointment? That means you’ve got a lot on your plate—hello, multitasking queen!
  • That unfinished project? Proof that your creativity is boundless.
  • Misplaced your keys again? Your mind is busy focusing on bigger things.

You are not lazy or broken. You’re wired differently, and that’s your superpower.

3 Steps to Start Loving Yourself Today

If self-love feels foreign, start small. Here are three ways to begin:

  1. Rewrite the Narrative.
Every time a negative thought creeps in, pause. Replace “I’m so disorganized” with “I’m creative and working on systems to support myself.”
  2. Set Boundaries.
Saying “no” to others can mean saying “yes” to yourself. Protect your energy by prioritizing what truly matters to you.
  3. Celebrate Your Wins.
Did you remember to drink water today? That’s a win! Did you tackle even one item on your to-do list? Another win! Honor your progress, no matter how small.

A Reminder: You Are Worthy

Self-love isn’t about becoming someone else; it’s about embracing who you already are. Flaws, quirks, and all. You’re not meant to fit into anyone’s box or live by someone else’s rules. Your journey is unique, and that’s what makes you extraordinary.

If this resonates and you want more tools to embrace self-love and navigate life with ADHD, I’d love for you to join me for my masterclass, Unlocking Your ADHD Superpower, on December 16th at 12 PM CST.
